| We have been asked to do some Reviews of our Editor Picks. With that in mind, we figured we would let AL do the honor. He needs more work to do around here. If you do not like his review, don't blame us. lol:) Well folks, AL here, they asked me to do a writeup on Reed Gold mine. They keep me busier than two flies in a horse stable. Being a kid at heart and possibly a man trapped in a kids body, i really enjoyed this place. Reed Gold Mine has got to be one of the best places someone young or old can goto and be one with nature. It really makes you feel as if your back in the early days of this county. It is not far from Charlotte, only about 30 minutes or so, depending how fast you drive. My car probably isn't as new as yours, as I am probably cheaper than your grandparents from the depression. Anyhow, back to Reed Gold Mine. As you travel to it, you drive on these small windy roads that really make you feel like your out in nowhere, but as you keep driving, you finally get to it. Once you pull into the parking lot, go to the building on your left , which is the museum and buy your tickets for the tour. Its not expensive, and trust me, you get your moneys worth here. You get to hear about the Gold Nugget that was the size of a huge potato, that the sold for three dollars. Boy oh boy, imagine selling a piece of gold that big for three dollars because you didn't know what it was at the time? Bet they are still kicking themselves in eternity. There are awesome tunnels all around on the property, lots of buildings, land, historic things to see and you can even pan for gold on certain days there. I was one of the lucky ones and found a piece the size of a grain of sand. No potato and not worth more than some change, but its a piece of history that not everyone gets to have the gratification of doing. Overall, this place is a blast for kids and adults with tons of fun for everyone. Kids love this place, there is lots of dirt, walking, tunnels and nature. Plus panning for gold. What more can a kid ask for, other than, "Whats for Dinner?" They will enjoy this place and you will find it interesting, plus it will be time away from the office for you. By the way, bring some drinks or water bottles, it does get hot out there. You can also buy sodas at the museum. Enjoy If you liked my writeup, let me know, my boss says I need all the feedback I can get, hope he doesn't fire me, I need my job al@CharlotteOneStop.com |
